Gal. 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days.
Gal. 1:19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother.
Gal. 1:20 (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!)
Gal. 1:21 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
Gal. 1:22 And I was still unknown in person to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
Gal. 1:23 They only were hearing it said, “He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
Gal. 1:24 And they glorified God because of me.

Sermon Text: Galatians 4:4-7
Gal. 4:4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
Gal. 4:5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
Gal. 4:6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
Gal. 4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Sermon Text: Galatians 3:26-4:3
Gal. 3:26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
Gal. 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal. 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal. 3:29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
Gal. 4:1 I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave,* though he is the owner of everything,
Gal. 4:2 but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father.
Gal. 4:3 In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles* of the world.

Who put this 1000-Ton Boulder Here?
I just had to share this, as it is an awesome example of the power of creation.I am fairly certain this is real and not fake. The WSJ ran a piece on it, not that it guarantees it is true.
But what is being questioned is how this boulder came to rest at that location as it was not there even a few months ago. The answer has to do with the geographic location of the boulder, it is located in Iceland.
To see what put it there, click on the link. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

Sermon Text: Galatians 1:10-12
Gal. 1:10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant* of Christ.
Gal. 1:11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel.*
Gal. 1:12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Sermon Text: Galatians 1:6-9
Gal. 1:6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
Gal. 1:7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.
Gal. 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.
Gal. 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

The on going battle in Vancouver
When I was in graduate school from 2001-2004, the conflict with the Anglican Church was taking place in Greater Vancouver. Here we are, 2010, and nothing has really changed. Very sad state of affairs.

Lausanne Conference 2010 Cape Town
So if you have not been paying attention, a major major event in the world is taking place in South Africa.
The Lausanne Conference is that largest gathering of Christian World Leaders who are concerned about missions and the gospel.
I have read some great papers submitted at the conference. One that has gotten me thinking is written by a theologian in Germany dealing with secularism, very insightful.
The biggest disappointment is that the Chinese Delegation was barred from leaving China.
Reading the email updates as well as the facebook posts have been very very encouraging.

Sermon Text: Genesis 48
Gen. 48:8 When Israel saw Joseph’s sons, he said, “Who are these?”
Gen. 48:9 Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” And he said, “Bring them to me, please, that I may bless them.”
Gen. 48:10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, so that he could not see. So Joseph brought them near him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
Gen. 48:11 And Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face; and behold, God has let me see your offspring also.”
Gen. 48:12 Then Joseph removed them from his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
Gen. 48:13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him.
Gen. 48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands (for Manasseh was the firstborn).
Gen. 48:15 And he blessed Joseph and said,
“The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked,
the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,
Gen. 48:16 the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys;
and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac;
and let them grow into a multitude* in the midst of the earth.”
Gen. 48:17 When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him, and he took his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.
Gen. 48:18 And Joseph said to his father, “Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”
Gen. 48:19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”
Gen. 48:20 So he blessed them that day, saying,
“By you Israel will pronounce blessings, saying,
t‘God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh.’ ”
Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

The Commercial Church
A church member heard this program today on NHPR and passed it along to me.
Very relevant topic and a frustration of mine being a minister in 21st Century America.
Take a listen when you get a chance.
